Following aespa Winter, SM’s employees receive death threat “The poster was arrested by the police”

SM Entertainment’s artists and employees are suffering from threats.

According to the police on August 11th, the Gyeonggi Hanam Police Station arrested A, a man in his 20s, on charges of intimidation and obstruction of justice.

A reportedly uploaded a post on an online community on August 8th, saying, “I’ll select only SM employees at Seoul Forest Station and kill 9 of them.”

According to the police, A expressed his feelings through SNS DM to B, a member of a SM Entertainment girl group he liked for nearly 10 years. However, B did not receive his messages, so he wrote the above-mentioned post out of anger.

However, after investigating A’s mobile phone, the police arrested A, believing that his claim “I wrote the post out of anger” had no credibility. The police discovered that A had made careful plans for his crime. He already set a specific D-Day to commit the crime, drafted the content of the threatening post and even prepared strategies to deal with the police.

On August 7th, aespa Winter was also threatened. A netizen uploaded a post on an online community, saying, “I’ll stab and kill aespa Winter, who is leaving Korea on August 8th.“

At that time, SM Entertainment said, “A post threatening Winter’s safety was uploaded on a community yesterday. Upon confirming this, we immediately filed a criminal complaint against the poster of the content at the police station and requested swift investigation cooperation. We have also reinforced security personnel and cooperated with airport police for her departure today, ensuring a safe departure.”
