FIFTY FIFTY’s families, “If it hadn’t been for their singing career, they wouldn’t have endured it. They don’t want to go back”

FIFTY FIFTY members’ families expressed their position regarding the contract lawsuit through “Unanswered Questions”.

The August 19th broadcast of SBS’s “Unanswered Questions” focused on the truth battle over FIFTY FIFTY’s contract dispute and the structural problems of the K-pop idol industry.

FIFTY FIFTY drew attention when they appeared on Times Square electronic display in April although they just debuted six months ago. They are not so well-known in Korea but their single album “Cupid” became a hit in the US and even entered US Billboard Main Single Chart ‘HOT 100’ four weeks after its release.

However, FIFTY FIFTY suddenly filed an injunction against their agency Attrakt to suspend their exclusive contracts.

Amid the intense legal battle between FIFTY FIFTY and their company, the members’ families revealed their position through “Unanswered Questions”.

FIFTY FIFTY’s families said, “We can’t believe that what we actually experienced is being covered up as rumors”, adding “Therefore, we are currently giving no responses and waiting patiently”.

They continued, “The members once suffered a hard time and left the agency. They had seizures several times due to panic disorder. There was a time when the members fainted in the hospital and woke up with an oxygen respirator”.

Revealing that the agency had CCTV everywhere, the members’ families confessed, “Surveillance and control in their dorm were too severe, making the members feel extremely pressured”, adding “To make it clear, if it hadn’t been for their singing career, they wouldn’t have endured it. They don’t have the intention to go back there. That’s how bad the members’ emotions are”.

Earlier, Attrakt’s lawyer stated, “Small and medium-sized agencies often made investments with their entire assets. We also invested as much as 8 billion won in raising and training FIFTY FIFTY”, then claimed that there was an external force trying to steal the members from them. In a press interview, Attrakt’s CEO Jeon Hong Joon also said, “The kids and their parents have been completely gaslighted by two experts”.

On the other hand, The Givers, which was pointed out as that external force, refuted the allegations, saying “It’s a dispute between the agency and their artist but we don’t understand why they want to turn the public eyes on another side by using provocative words, such as external force, gaslighting, stealing, etc.”
