FIFTY FIFTY’s Aran, Sio, Saena Are Still Being Sued For 13 Billion Won

The lawsuit against three former members of FIFTY FIFTY for the compensation worth 13 billion won is still underway.

On December 18, 2023, FIFTY FIFTY‘s agency ATTAKT filed a lawsuit for damages worth 13 billion won against 12 people, including former members Saena, Aran, Sio, their parents, and CEO Ahn Sung-il and director Baek Jin-sil of The Givers. ATTAKT is reportedly currently preparing for trial.

The start of the lawsuit dates back to June 2023. At the time, the four members of FIFTY FIFTY rose to stardom after becoming the fastest KPOP artist to enter the Billboard Hot 100 with their hit song “Cupid” in February 2023 (130 days after their debut). They however caused a major stir by filling an application for suspension of their exclusive contract against ATTAKT to the Seoul Central District Court on June 19, 2023. ATTKT claimed that external forces had approached their artists and induced them to violate their exclusive contracts during their hiatus due to heath problems. It then filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul on charges of breach of duty and obstruction of business against them.

Although CEO Jeon Hong-joon constantly hinted that he wanted to reconcile with the members, the members kept their mouths closed for two months, hiding behind their family members and lawyers, saying, “We would rather stop being singers than go back.” The court’s mediation also failed.

In October 2023, the four members revealed CEO Jeon Hong-joon made them attend an investment briefing with management company H. from the US without prior notice and making them lie in front of the investors. However, they ended up losing the lawsuit to suspend the validity of its exclusive contract. The members appealed immediately after, but member Keena suddenly dropped it to return to ATTAKT, claiming the group has been gaslighted by The Givers’ CEO. The court also rejected the appeal, ending the lawsuit with a complete victory for ATTAKT.

In the midst of this, Saena, Aran and Sio continued their legal action. Meanwhile, ATTAKT announced it would select new members for the group, led by Keena, and has continued the legal battle against Ahn Sung-il and Baek Jin-sil, who were pointed out to be the forces behind everything. Ahn Sung-il was summoned to the Gangnam Police Station for questioning and sent to the prosecution without detention in February.
