Girl group FIFTY FIFTY claimed the top spot on TikTok’s global popular music chart for the year
On December 7, Tiktok’s “What’s Next 2024 Trend Report Conference” was held in Jung-gu, Seoul. Here, the short video platform announced its popular global music chart, in which FIFTY FIFTY’s “Cupid” took first place.
It is also revealed that FIFTY FIFTY’s “Cupid” also placed among the Top 10 in a total of 19 countries.
In addition to FIFTY FIFTY, 5 other groups including BTS, BLACKPINK, ENHYPEN, LE SSERAFIM, and NewJeans showed strength on the global charts.
Regarding this, general manager of TikTok Artists & Label Partnership Yoo Kyung-chul mentioned, “K-pop idols are sweeping the global charts, and the strong trend of K-pop is expected to continue next year.”
Yoo Kyung-chul also cited “Challenge” as the common feature of K-pop contents that were highly popular this year. “TikTok users actively contribute to value creation as proactive and engaged consumers, especially through challenges”, he also emphasized.
