FIFTY FIFTY recently revamped their lineup with new members and released their second mini-album, “Love Tune,” performing on stages such as Mnet’s “M Countdown” and KBS 2TV’s “Music Bank.”
However, according to a report by Munhwa Ilbo, they have announced their stance of not participating in the upcoming SBS “Inkigayo” broadcast on the 29th.
FIFTY FIFTY’s boycott of their appearance is interpreted as a protest against SBS’s lack of official apology related to last year’s tampering allegations.
At that time, SBS’s current affairs program “The its know” faced severe disciplinary action from the Korea Communications Standards Commission for biased broadcasting but did not issue an official apology to Attrakt.
In an interview with Munhwa Ilbo on the 28th, FIFTY FIFTY’s agency, ATTRAKT, CEO Jeon Hong-joon mentioned, “Even if entertainment and educational programming are different, they made a huge mistake against Attrakt and the person Jeon Hong-joon in ‘The its know,’” revealing the discord with SBS. He emphasized, “There are many calls for us to appear for promotional reasons, but if there’s no official apology, we cannot go.”
FIFTY FIFTY has not made an official request for participation to the “Inkigayo” production team, making it difficult for SBS to request their involvement.
Jeon Hong-joon stated, “There are two kinds of death: one is physical death, and the other is economic death. I cannot engage with those who pushed me towards economic death.”
Expressing strong dissatisfaction with the broadcasting company, he questioned, “How can we go there without a reasonable apology and action?”
