Veteran Hong Kong actor Felix Wong, one of TVB’s most beloved stars of the 1980s and 1990s, has chosen a quiet life away from the spotlight after announcing his retirement at the age of 64. Best remembered for his iconic portrayals of Guo Jing in The Legend of the Condor Heroes and Qiao Feng in Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils, Felix Wong remains one of the most celebrated actors to bring Jin Yong’s legendary martial arts characters to life.

Born in Huizhou, China, in 1961, Felix Wong joined TVB at the age of 20. Thanks to his handsome appearance and gentle demeanor, he quickly became known for portraying honorable, righteous heroes. His breakthrough came in 1983 when he starred as Guo Jing in TVB’s adaptation of The Legend of the Condor Heroes. The drama became a massive hit across the Chinese-speaking world, with Wong’s portrayal still widely regarded as the definitive version of the beloved character.

Throughout the 1980s, Felix Wong cemented his status as one of TVB’s leading stars through popular dramas including The Yang’s Saga, The Sword Stained with Royal Blood, Looking Back in Anger, Justice Pao, and Fox Volant of the Snowy Mountain. Alongside Andy Lau, Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Kent Tong, and Michael Miu, he was recognized as one of TVB’s legendary “Five Tiger Generals.”

Felix Wong has often credited historical and wuxia dramas for shaping his career, saying that the roles of Guo Jing and Qiao Feng elevated his fame beyond anything he had imagined. Off-screen, he earned a reputation for being humble, dependable, and supportive, with many younger actors acknowledging the guidance he offered early in their careers.

While Felix Wong enjoyed an extraordinary acting career, he was equally admired for his enduring marriage to former actress Leung Kit Wah. The couple married in 1988 and had one daughter together.

In 2013, Leung Kit Wah was diagnosed with leukemia. Felix Wong put much of his career on hold to care for his wife and shoulder the family’s financial burden as medical expenses mounted over the years. His wife passed away in May 2020 after a long battle with the disease, leaving the veteran actor devastated. Reports said he isolated himself at home and spent days grieving after losing the love of his life.

In recent years, Felix Wong has gradually returned to public life while choosing not to resume acting. He has said he has no plans to return to television or film despite remaining in good health.

Instead, he now spends much of his time pursuing his passion for football. According to HK01, Felix Wong serves as the leader of a football team made up of veteran Hong Kong entertainers, traveling to participate in friendly matches and charity events. He also occasionally attends entertainment events to support longtime colleagues and reconnect with fans.

Reflecting on his decision to retire, Wong once shared: “I’ve worked in this industry for many years and know my limits. I can never return to my peak. I’d rather leave audiences with good memories and spend my time doing the things I truly enjoy.”

Now in his mid-60s, the former TVB star appears content with the slower pace of life, preferring personal fulfillment over another comeback, while his only daughter has followed in his footsteps by pursuing an acting career.
