Fans Disappointed with BLACKPINK Jennie’s Fate in “The Idol”, Demanding a More Deserving Ending

Jennie’s character, Dyanne, receives a bitter ending in the final episode of “The Idol,” leaving many viewers feeling sorry for her.

BLACKPINK Jennie‘s character, Dyanne, has limited screen time throughout Season 1 of “The Idol”. In the final episode, her fate becomes even more dismal as the record label withdraws their offer for her to sing the song “World Class Sinner” instead of the female lead Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp).

The record label’s director promises Dyanne that she will still have support to become a star in the future. However, as the scene shows Dyanne, a disappointed backup dancer, stepping into a closing elevator, viewers can see that she has missed her chance to change her life in the entertainment industry.

After the episode aired, many viewers expressed disappointment with Dyanne’s ending:

  • Hollywood is evil. Dyanne is just another victim.
  • Dyanne’s ending is an example that no matter how talented you are, this industry only offers empty promises.
  • The series not only denigrates women in general but also implies that the #MeToo movement in Hollywood is all deception.
  • Jennie made me cry. Even though Dyanne was trying to steal the spotlight from Jocelyn, her sad face in the end broke my heart.

Jennie’s role in “The Idol” remains a big question mark for viewers from episode 1 until now. Jennie has become the center of criticism despite having limited screen time.

Some viewers even find it difficult to understand why a top idol like Jennie would agree to take on such a forgettable role. On social media, many believe that Jennie’s role in “The Idol” is simply “bait” to attract her fans to watch the show.

Although Season 1 of “The Idol” has ended, the plot and the fate of the characters spark much debate and many questions are left unanswered. The cast members have expressed that the show’s production company is very supportive and they hope to continue to produce a second season.

However, considering the negative reviews from viewers and critics regarding the quality, the possibility of “The Idol” being canceled immediately after the first season is high.
