Fans are taken aback at the news of Lim Young-min’s Instagram account opening

After his efforts to apologize, fans do not seem to have forgiven Lim Young-min for DUI. 

On January 9th, Lim Young-min‘s agency BrandNew Music posted on Twitter that the idol opened a personal Instagram account. In response, netizens said “I knew this would happen” “You didn’t terminate the contract, did you?” “I was surprised,” and “I liked him until the accident…”

In May 2020, Lim Young-min was caught drunk-driving to his place by the police after meeting with acquaintances. His license was revoked and he went into self-restraint, but eventually withdrew from the group and enlisted in November of the same year due to fans’ continued protest. However, he did not leave his agency.

In May 2022, Lim Young-min resurfaced and wrote a hand-written apology and posted on his agency’s official Twitter account stating, “While serving in the military, I met good seniors, colleagues, juniors, executives, and people. It was a valuable time where I got a lot of help and was able to learn a lot. I had many realizations while thinking about how I was flawed and how much damage and hurt my wrongdoings have caused.”

At the end of the letter, he promised, “From now on, I will carefully think before acting. I will work hard to become a better person day by day and greet you with a better side of me.”

Lim Young-min got known through his participation in the Mnet’s audition program “Produce 101 season 2” in 2017 and debuted in MXM in July of the same year. After that, he re-debuted as a member of AB6IX in May 2019, but withdrew after a year due to the incident.
