On August 23, 8 World reported that Fan Bingbing caused a stir while attending a promotional event for her cosmetics brand at a shopping center in Kuala Lumpur.
Coinciding with her visit, Fan Bingbing revealed she was honored with the title of “Datuk” by the Malacca state government for her contributions to local tourism. Fans and media alike praised her appearance, noting her elegant black outfit with a leather jacket, skirt, and high boots, as well as her youthful and radiant beauty at 43.

Fans gathered early at the venue to welcome the star. During the event, she warmly interacted with attendees, saying, “Thank you to my Malaysian fans, and also to my friends from China. It’s a happiness to meet you all closely.” The actress became emotional, shedding tears in response to the overwhelming support.
Since 2018, Fan Bingbing faced a major career setback in China following a tax evasion scandal, which resulted in a $130 million fine and effectively blacklisted her from major projects. Unable to release films in China or attend large-scale events, Fan Bingbing shifted her focus to international markets and entrepreneurship. This pivot has proven highly successful, particularly in the cosmetics sector.

According to Finance Sina, her brand Fan Beauty Diary generated an impressive revenue of 1.45 billion CNY (approximately $200 million) last year. In 2024, the brand ranked 35th on the list of China’s top 100 trending beauty brands. While the revenue is below leaders like Proya Cosmetics (8.6 billion CNY), the performance is remarkable for a brand established just seven years ago.
Fan Bingbing’s products have achieved record-breaking sales, including selling 100,000 whitening face masks in just 10 seconds during a June livestream with influencer Li Jiaqi, totaling nearly $2.8 million. Each mask is priced at 198 CNY (around $28), contributing nearly 70% of the brand’s e-commerce revenue. Fan Beauty Diary also offers lipsticks, shampoos, and skincare products ranging from 99 CNY ($14) to 684 CNY ($97).
The actress actively promotes her products as a model and livestream host, often collaborating with top livestreamers in China during major shopping festivals. Analysts attribute the brand’s rapid growth to Fan Bingbing’s charm, luxurious image, and enduring star power, which continues to attract a loyal consumer base.
Prior to her blacklist, Fan Bingbing was one of China’s top actresses, known for iconic works like My Fair Princess and The Empress of China. Renowned as Asia’s “Red Carpet Queen,” she captivated global audiences with her striking beauty and impeccable style.
Now at 43, Fan Bingbing has embraced a more private lifestyle, focusing on business, philanthropy, self-care, and innovative film projects. She has appeared at international events, magazine shoots, and films produced in Hollywood, South Korea, and Malaysia.

Most recently, she starred in a Malaysian movie portraying a mystical farmer tasked with exorcising spirits, hinting at her expansion into producing and directing, with plans to develop her own film projects.
Fan Bingbing’s story showcases resilience and reinvention, proving that even after public setbacks, her influence and entrepreneurial acumen remain unstoppable.
