ENA’s “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, which is gaining syndrome-level popularity among the public, will be made into a musical.
On August 17th, EMK Musical Company (EMK) announced on their official Instagram that the musicalization of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” was decided.
CEO Eom Hong-hyun of EMK said, “There have been many proposals for dramatizing the drama, but we were worried about whether the original work’s beauty will be elaborately captured if the original work’s vast story is compressed into 2~3 hours.”
CEO Eom added, “On the other hand, ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ has a high level of perfection for each episode, so the fact that we can express a more detailed story through musicalization is attractive.”
The drama is relatively easy to make into a musical because it takes a composition that deals with a different event in each episode.
CEO Lee Sang-baek of AStory, the production company of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, also expressed trust in EMK, which made musicals “Mata Hari”, “The Man Who Laughs” and “Xcalibur”.
CEO Lee said, “We will do our best to work with EMK to create a new K-content that is loved not only in Korean but also all over the world.”
This is not the first time that “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” has been made into different types of content.
Earlier on July 27th, the webtoon “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” began to be published serially through Naver. There are a total of 60 chapters, which will continue to be serialized even after the drama ends.
Viewers cheered when the news that “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” will be made into a musical following the webtoon was announced.
Meanwhile, the musical “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” aims to premiere in 2024.
