“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” Kang Ki Young – an actor that make people cry and laugh with him
Actor Kang Ki Young roused the emotions of viewers with his brilliant acting that captured both joys and sorrows in “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”.
In the ENA Wednesday-Thursday K-drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, actor Kang Ki Young, who plays the senior lawyer Jung Myung Seok, has proven his outstanding acting skills.
In the last broadcast of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, Jung Myungg Seok left everyone puzzled as he did a complete 180 in terms of attitude and appearance. In particular, as the Hanbada Law Firm planned a business trip to Jeju Island, the senior lawyer showed up in a tangerine-colored shirt, leaving his formally-dressed image nowhere to be found.
It was a trip full of memories and regrets for Myeong Seok, however, as he recalled his honeymoon 13 years ago with his wife Jisoo, played by Lee Yoon Ji. At the time, Myeong Seok was a passionate lawyer who always put work first, leaving his wife lonely throughout the trip. The couple ended up separating 8 years later.
Back to the present, and Myeong Seok was recalling the trip, feeling skeptical about what he was living for. He emptied his drink with a bitter smile.
Later on, it was revealed that Myeong Seok has been diagnosed with stage 3 stomach cancer. On the day of the second hearing, he could be seen clutching his stomach with a pale face, before collapsing with a ‘thump’ and complaining of extreme pain.
Still, Myeong Seok fought against his illness and showed a courageous attitude, reassuring Han Seon Young (Baek Ji Won) and fellow Hanbada employees. He did not let go of the case despite his ex-wife visiting him and criticizing him after hearing the news, and did the best he could.
As such, Kang Ki Young embodied the changes in emotions that his character, Jung Myeong Seok feels, as well as the crisis he is going through. The actor also seems immersed in his role, groaning in pain in court and yet maintaining his professional mentor and lawyer image.
The sight of Myeong Seok shedding tears while feeling the wind in his open car broke the hearts of viewers. Meanwhile, the image of him smiling happily while eating the noodles he wanted to eat so much brought out warmth.
Through his acting chops that excellently deliver both joys and sorrows , Kang Ki Young made viewers cry and laugh along with him.
As a result, amid growing questions about what other changes Jung Myung Seok will undergo in the future, expectations are high for Kang Ki Young’s portrayal.
