“The Law Cafe” is a legal romcom series about Kim Jung Ho, a former prosecutor, and Kim Yoo Ri, a lawyer. It is a drama adaptation of a popular web novel by writer Noh Seung Ah, which has recorded more than 25 million views.

At the press conference, director Lee Eun Jin said, “These days, warm dramas are fun. That’s why ‘The Law Cafe’ is an interesting drama.” She added, “We only cast people who are good at acting and have good personalities.”

About Lee Seung Gi and Lee Se Young’s synchronization level with their counterparts in the web novel, director Lee said, “Lee Seung Gi’s synchro rate is 300%. When we talk among ourselves, he tends to be mischievous. He puts forward his logic. Lee Se Young’s synchro rate is 150%. There is a gap between her hot and cold side, but her wildness is obvious. She is a very lovely and pretty crazy person.”

In “The Law Cafe”, Lee Seung Gi plays Kim Jung Ho, a former prosecutor who has had a crush on Kim Yoo Ri (Lee Se Young) for 17 years and is currently working as a web novel writer. Lee Seung Gi said, “My previous works had a strong genre and there were a lot of difficult shoots. ‘The Law Cafe’ has a human healing comedy element that makes me comfortable. When I go to the set, it’s fun and I enjoy filming it.”

He added, “The mood on set is good. The atmosphere between the director and the cast on set is also good, so shooting is fun. Also, the director is very open. The script is great, but I’m also looking forward to seeing how it will turn out because of the strong directing.”

Lee Se Young plays the role of Kim Yoo Ri, a lawyer with a four-dimensional personality who quits her job at the large law firm Hwang & Gu and sets up a legal counseling cafe on the first floor of the building owned by Kim Jeong-ho (Lee Seung Gi). When asked if she felt pressured due to the success of her previous drama “The Red Sleeve”, Lee Se Young said, “Ever since I started acting when I was a child, it was my first time starring in a successful drama like ‘The Red Sleeve’. Making a hit is important but I focus more on the message, the actor’s characters, and the interesting points of the drama.”

She added, “I can’t do it on my own, but I’m trying to do my best. I think I can show you a funnier side of me, such as my appearance when being angry or crazy, that I have not shown before through this work. The story of the drama is also very interesting.”

Lee Se Young and Lee Seung Gi reunited for the first time in 4 years after their collaboration in tvN’s drama “A Korean Odyssey”. Regarding this, Lee Se Young said, “Playing a zombie who lives off Lee Seung Gi in ‘A Korean Odyssey’, I was scolded a lot. Now, I’m generously taking care of him.”

Lee Seung Gi shared, “‘A Korean Odyssey’ was filmed right after I got discharged from the military and was still living a mixed life as a soldier and a person in society. It’s been a while since I last saw Se-young and her energy is still so good. The main characters have a lot of screen time in a rom-com like ‘The Law Cafe’. Since it’s also a legal drama, we also have to say many lines. Se Young always shows up with a bright and playful appearance that gives others positive energy, and she doesn’t show any signs of exhaustion. I really respect her”, pouring out compliments for his co-star.

Regarding the difference between the drama “The Law Cafe” and its original version, Lee Se Young said, “I was reading the novel until half of it then stopped as I was told ‘Don’t read it’. In the case of the character Yoo Ri, I think it will be more fun to watch the drama because you can see her crazy side clearer”, raising expectations.

“The Law Cafe” will air its first episode at 9:50 p.m KST today (September 5th).
