EXO Kai to join the military amid EXO’s comeback preparation due to unexpected regulation change
EXO Kai will be joining the military amid EXO’s full group comeback.
On May 3rd, SM Entertainment, posted a notice on the fan community platform Kwangya Club to inform fans about Kai’s sudden enlistment in the military. The notice stated: “Kai was preparing for EXO’s comeback scheduled for this year, but due to a recent change in regulations of the Military Manpower Administration, he is set to enter the army recruit training center on May 11th”, adding, “he will receive basic military training, and he will serve as a public service worker”.
In the same announcement, SM also said they would not hold any special event of the day out of respect for Kai’s intention to quietly join the army. Therefore, no information about the time and place of enlistment will be disclosed.
SM Entertainment also announced that they would inform fans the moment they sort out the details and plans for EXO’s album release and future comeback.
Kai is a member of EXO that debuted in 2012. EXO received love from numerous hit songs such as “Growl”, “CALL ME BABY”, “LOVE ME RIGHT”, “Love Shot”, and many more. In 2020, Kai started his solo career by releasing his first mini-album “KAI”. He has been active with song releases such as “MMmmh” and ‘Peaches”. In March this year, the singer released his third mini-album “Rover” with the title song of the same name.
