EXO D.O. Sheds Tears After Watching His New Movie “The Moon”

“The Moon” marks D.O.’s first comeback to the big screen after 5 years.

The Moon” has an investment budget of approximately 28 billion won, shot in 4K format with VFX effects. The film is directed by Kim Yong Hwa and is set in the hypothetical year 2029 when Korea becomes the second country after the United States to send a manned spacecraft to the moon.

The whole world pays attention to this significant event, but a solar flare erupts, causing the spaceship to sink, leaving only the crew member Hwang Sun Woo (EXO D.O.) stranded.

Five years ago, Korea made efforts to explore the moon with the Narae-ho spacecraft, but it exploded into pieces during launch, claiming the lives of the astronauts. Now, facing another tragedy, Sun Woo, the sole survivor, becomes the focus of the efforts by the Korean Aerospace Research Institute and the government.

Former flight director Kim Jae Gook (Sul Kyung Gu), who was responsible for the Narae-ho accident 5 years ago, joins the mission to ensure Sun Woo’s rescue. However, his efforts alone are not enough. To seek another hope, Kim Jae Gook seeks the assistance of NASA’s lunar orbit director Yoon Moon Young (Kim Hee Ae), but even that is not easy.

For D.O., this is his first film after completing his military service, marking his return to the big screen after 5 years. At “The Moon” press conference, D.O. stated that he gradually conveyed the emotions experienced by the character Sun Woo, from fear when setting foot on the moon for the first time to the fear of being left alone in the vast unknown space and the relentless determination to survive.

On July 25th, “The Moon” VIP premiere took place, gathering stars such as Kim Woo Bin, Shin Ye Eun, Lee Joon Hyuk, and members of EXO. After fully watching the film, D.O. himself reportedly shed tears of happiness.
