“Even Though It Was Rude, I Couldn’t Stop Staring…” FC Seoul’s Lee Sang-min Shares Heartwarming Story of Meeting BTS’s V at the Training Camp

Recently, FC Seoul’s official YouTube channel released a video titled “Lee Sang-min Meeting BTS in the Military, Having Coffee with Yoon Jong-kyu.” Lee Sang-min and Yoon Jong-kyu were discharged on July 15.

Particularly, Lee Sang-min, who spotted V at the training camp, shared the episode with humor, bringing much laughter. He said, “I now understand why men talk about their military service. Even in difficult times, there are fun memories,” as he wittily recounted his experience of meeting V at the training camp.

He added, “When famous people from arts and sports fields come, some units may hesitate, but our unit commander liked it, so he accepted eight of us, including Kim Yuna’s husband, Go Woo-rim.”

He continued, “But the real legend wasn’t even that. After about a week of training, I heard that V was enlisting. I thought, ‘If I’m lucky, I might get to meet V,'” he said, reflecting the anticipation he felt at the time.

However, even though V had enlisted, it was difficult for Lee Sang-min to spot him since all the recruits had shaved heads and wore the same clothes.

Later, while looking at his phone, Lee Sang-min saw a picture of V entering the camp in the rain, wearing a poncho, and said, “I vaguely remembered the shoes V was wearing in the entrance photo, so I kept looking at the shoes whenever I went to eat,” he humorously recounted, explaining his dedication to finding V. He noted that it was easier to remember because V was wearing Celine high-tops, for which he is an ambassador.

Two days later, while eating at the dining hall and waiting for his unit members, Lee Sang-min finally spotted V’s shoes. “V was wearing a mask, but his eyes are really big. Even though it was rude, I couldn’t help but stare,” he said, recounting the moment with excitement.

He then told his fellow unit members, “It’s V, it’s V…” and everyone turned to look, describing a reaction that anyone could relate to. However, after a few days, when the new recruits started wearing the standard military-issued shoes, it became more difficult to spot V. He added that V became a squad leader, and because squad leaders wear name tags, he was able to see him two or three more times, but didn’t get to talk to him.

Even though he couldn’t speak with V, Lee Sang-min was content just seeing him up close. He remarked, “I don’t really know much about idols, but who doesn’t know BTS? I don’t know when I’d ever see them again, so I wanted to get an autograph, but I couldn’t.”

Yoon Jong-kyu also shared, “I saw RM during a weekend religious service, and when the soldiers cheered, he gave a thumbs up and left. I saw him from a distance, but he looked really cool,” with a satisfied expression.

Lee Sang-min jokingly said, “If you make ‘Meeting V Story’ the thumbnail, the video will get a lot of views. People weren’t interested in other training stories, but when I said I met V, everyone listened intently.” The production team also agreed, saying, “This is fun,” expressing their satisfaction.
