On the special episode “God’s Will” of tvN’s program “You Quiz on the Block,” which aired on February 23rd, Lee Dae-yang talked about his own childcare experience.
On this day, Yoo Jae-seok asked, “I heard that you suddenly took a time off school while taking a Ph.D. course,” and Lee Dae-yang said, “I’m doing a Ph.D. degree and my wife is working as a doctor, so there’s no one in my house to raise the children.” “When my child was born, I thought about asking my parents to take care of him, and I would go to see him on the weekend,” he confessed.
Lee Dae-yang said, “Just because a kid is born doesn’t mean he is all healthy and well. My wife suffered a mooring miscarriage in the early days and both of us were shocked. In the case of my wife, isn’t she a person familiar with such a situation? It’s because of the genetic problem of fertilized eggs, and it’s not because the mother did something wrong, but she’s been talking about it countless times. Even though she is familiar with it, knowing about it was different from really experiencing it.”
Lee Dae-yang added, “So my wife was very depressed, and if a second opportunity comes, I seriously want to raise my child myself. Then my wife also said, “I think I will be able to cheer up with confidence again.” Fortunately, the second opportunity came not too late, and I decided to take some time from doing my degree and raise my child at home as promised,” he said.
In addition, while talking about parenting, Yoo Jae-seok said, “If you don’t experience it, you really don’t know. Since I work outside, Na Kyung-eun (Yoo Jae-seok’s wife) is in charge of childcare. I’m so sorry about that, but it’s not that I don’t do it. However, it is just nothing compared to her hard work. I do my best,” he said, expressing his difficulty.
Lee Dae-yang said, “Since I was the main caregiver, it is important to watch the kids so she can trust you. If I have to call her about the kids when I take them outside, I am not in charge of them properly.”
