Michelle Yeoh directly addressed Emma Stone's racial discrimination controversy

On March 12th, Michelle Yeoh shared a moment from the Oscars ceremony with Emma Stone on her social media, captioning, “Congratulations Emma!” The two are seen embracing each other.

Michelle Yeoh continued, saying, “I confused you, but I wanted to share that glorious moment of handing over Oscar to you together with your best friend Jennifer!! She reminded me of my Bae Jamie Lee Curtis. Always there for each other!!”

This post seems to be Michelle Yeoh stepping in to explain on behalf of Emma Stone, who faced racial discrimination controversy.

Earlier, on March 10th (local time) at the Dolby Theatre in LA, during the 96th Academy Awards ceremony, Emma Stone was honored with the Best Actress award for the film ‘Poor Things.’ Michelle Yeoh, the previous year’s winner, presented the award, and previous winners also joined on stage to congratulate the winner.

However, just before receiving the trophy, Emma Stone seemed to exchange glances with Michelle Yeoh, who handed her the trophy.

Jennifer Lawrence, known as a close friend of Emma Stone, was seen taking the trophy from Michelle Yeoh’s hand and passing it to Emma Stone, sparking controversy.

Following this, netizens criticized the scene, questioning, “Why did Emma ‘pass’ Michelle Yeoh as an Asian, and why did Jennifer snatch the trophy from Michelle and hand it to Emma?” “As an Asian, it was a very unpleasant moment,” and “It was clear racial discrimination.”
