Drugs That EXID Hani’s Fiancé Misused On Deceased Patient Was So Strong They Could Kill An Elephant

On August 6th, the Hankyoreh newspaper obtained medical records from Bucheon W Jin Hospital, run by psychiatrist Yang Jae-woong, and had them analyzed by another professional psychiatrist with 10 years of experience.

While the bereaved family claimed that patient Park died of abdominal pain and intestinal obstruction caused by drug side effects at Yang’s hospital, according to the analysis, the drug actually administered to Park was misused even though it could cause significant side effects.

Park’s progress record showed that the patient was hospitalized due to diet drug addiction. She took a total of 5 different kinds of drugs on the first day of hospitalization.

“(Medical staff) seem to have decided that a single drug cannot bring calming effects. Most of them are antipsychotics and psychotropic drugs, and especially, risperidone is a high-titer (strong effect per milligram) product,” said the medical specialist. When injected with these drugs, an “elephant injection” (an injection that can knock down even elephants) can be made, which means that it is a powerful drug. Of course, there will be side effects,” he said.

The patient was rambling and even had delirium since then, which seems to have caused problems in her digestive system and muscle system due to side effects of mental agents.

The psychiatrist said, “Common side effects of psychoactive agents may include anticholinergic side effects (dry mouth, decreased bowel movement, indigestion, constipation, dysuria, dry eyes, delirium), as well as muscle system side effects (muscle tremors, acute muscle tension abnormalities, left anxiety stones, neurodegenerative malignant syndrome, etc.), and there were few checks by medical staff at the beginning.”

In addition, he pointed out, “When the drug records show that the victim, who was sleepy and sagging due to the drug, was unable to swallow the drug in the second half, so injections were used rather than oral drugs,” adding, “The victim cannot control her body enough to swallow the drugs, but the medical staff still rather used an injection with a high ‘titer’.”

Eventually, Park was trapped in the isolation room (stable room) on the evening of May 26 and knocked on the door complaining of abdominal pain, but rather, the guardian and nursing assistant tied Park’s hands, feet, and chest to the bed for two hours at 00:30 on May 27 and she later died. The National Forensic Service estimated that “acute pseudo intestinal obstruction” was the cause of death after the autopsy.

Currently, the bereaved family believes that the hospital neglected Park while her condition deteriorated, and has filed a criminal complaint against six medical staff, including hospital director Yang Jae-woong, for the crime of abandonment.

Meanwhile, Hani and Yang Jae-woong announced their marriage in September this year as they had been in a relationship since 2022, but criticism against Yang Jae-woong was mounting as it was revealed that they announced their marriage four days after the patient’s death. The criticism sparked even a firestorm over Hani and rumors have emerged that the two will postpone their marriage.
