“Dr. Romantic 3” dethroned “Doctor Cha” in terms of popularity

The SBS drama “Dr. Romantic 3” has finally risen to the top, breaking the first-place streak of JTBC’s “Doctor Cha”.

On Good Data’s TV-OTT popularity ranking for the 4th week of May, which was released on May 30th, JTBC’s “Doctor Cha” was dethroned from its 4-week consecutive 1st place.

Instead, SBS’s “Dr. Romantic 3” rose to the top, showing a significant increase in popularity compared to the previous week, despite a recent decrease in its popularity scores for the past two weeks. It was also notable that actor Ahn Hyo Seop ranked first in terms of actor popularity for the first time, leading the popularity of the show.

On the other hand, “Doctor Cha” saw a decline in the rankings of cast members Um Jung Hwa and Kim Byung Chul, who had been holding the top two spots in actor popularity. They fell to 4th and 5th place, respectively.

Regarding this, Good Data CEO Won Soon Woo stated, “As the cheerful and comedic storylines (of “Doctor Cha”) decreased and shifted to a more serious tone, the rise in popularity came to a halt.”

Meanwhile, in the drama popularity ranking, tvN’s “Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938” and JTBC’s “The Good Bad Mother” took the 3rd and 4th spots, respectively. Both shows experienced an increase in popularity compared to the previous week, narrowing the gap with the top two. In addition, the lead actors of these two dramas, Lee Dong Wook and Lee Do Hyun, ranked 2nd and 3rd in actor popularity.

Rounding out the 5th to 8th places were KBS2’s “My Perfect Stranger”, KBS2’s “The Real Has Come!”, tvN’s “Family: The Unbreakable Bond”, and KBS2’s “Woman in a Veil”. Meanwhile, despite not yet broadcasting, JTBC’s “King the Land” garnered high pre-release anticipation and claimed the 9th spot.

On the other hand, among OTT original dramas, Wavve’s “One Day Off” entered the rankings at 10th place.
