On the evening of October 23, Dou Xiao posted on social media stating that although he initially wanted to stay silent, the rumors had escalated beyond reason. He urged the public to stop spreading false information. His management has confirmed they’ve gathered legal evidence and will proceed with defamation lawsuits.
Shortly after, Laurinda Ho, daughter of late casino tycoon Stanley Ho, shared her husband’s statement, adding: “We appreciate your concern. We understand the curiosity, but we never felt the need to prove our love to outsiders. Our marriage is fine.”

The rumors originated from a cryptic video by producer Chen Lan, who mentioned a “rich daughter divorcing an actor who spent all his money on their wedding”—without naming names. However, netizens quickly speculated it referred to Dou Xiao and Laurinda, leading to wild allegations: that Dou went bankrupt paying for the wedding, that her family refused financial support, or that she forced him to sign a prenuptial agreement.

The couple married in Bali in 2023, after three years of dating. During the wedding, Laurinda gave a heartfelt speech: “Thank you for seeing and accepting the childish side of me. I love you more than you know.”
Dou Xiao, 37, rose to fame through Zhang Yimou’s Under the Hawthorn Tree, followed by roles in Dangerous Liaisons, Scarlet Heart: Ryeo, and Princess Agents. Laurinda Ho, 34, is the daughter of Stanley Ho and third wife Chan Un Chan. According to Forbes, her mother was once worth over $1 billion.
