At 3 p.m. on March 16th, the Seoul Central District Court conducted a substantive arrest warrant for person “A” on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. A underwent examinations after being arrested on the suspicion of administering propofol on the 13th and is currently being investigated for the allegation of prescribing propofol to actor Yoo Ah In.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s narcotics crime investigation division has confirmed that A prescribed propofol to Yoo Ah In and is investigating whether the prescriptions were for medical purposes. A runs a hospital in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and is known to be a close acquaintance of Yoo Ah In.
The police are analyzing the materials and data obtained in the search and seizure of Yoo Ah In’s house and related hospitals. They plan to summon Yoo Ah In to investigate the drug purchase route and how the actor was administered drugs as soon as the analysis is completed.
At the end of last year, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety reported to the police that Yoo Ah In’s prescriptions of propofol were abnormally high, raising suspicions of the actor’s habitual use. On the 5th of last month, the police launched an investigation on Yoo Ah In, who had just arrived at Incheon International Airport after returning from the U.S., and conducted a body search and seizure right at the airport to secure his mobile phone for the forensics.
