In an interview with MyDaily at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, Do Kyung-soo discussed his latest work, including the 12-episode Disney+ original series Pieces of a City, and shared insights about balancing professional commitments with personal relationships.
In The Manipulated, Do Kyung-soo plays Johan, a “sculptor” who manipulates evidence and orchestrates events to avenge the protagonist, Tae-jung (Ji Chang-wook), who becomes entangled in a serious crime. This role marked Do Kyung-soo’s first major performance as an antagonist.

He reflected, “People around me have seen me in a new light. I’ve mostly played characters with personal struggles rather than outright villains. Hearing that I expressed the role well makes me really proud.”
Do Kyung-soo also mentioned praise from fellow actors and close friends, including Kim Woo-bin and Lee Kwang-soo, noting that his character’s subtle manipulation—giving orders rather than committing crimes directly—was well received as convincingly menacing.
When discussing Kim Woo-bin, the conversation naturally turned to his wedding. Fans had anticipated that Do Kyung-soo might perform a celebratory song, given his close friendship with the groom. However, EXO’s schedule for the 2025 Melon Music Awards (MMA) coincided with the wedding date, making his attendance impossible.

With visible regret, Do Kyung-soo said, “It’s really difficult. I feel sorry for Woo-bin, but EXO’s activities come first. Woo-bin understands that.” He elaborated that the MMA was EXO’s first full-group appearance in seven years and also featured the debut of new songs.
When asked if a video message or remote performance could be an alternative, Do Kyung-soo replied cautiously, “I’m worried it might cause more harm than good.” He shared that he had planned to sing “Popcorn” at the wedding, a song carefully chosen together with Woo-bin.
Reflecting on their friendship, he said, “Woo-bin is truly a precious older brother to me,” conveying both affection and regret.
