Do Kyung Soo Burdened by Playing the Lead in 30 Billion Won Blockbuster “The Moon”, But Enjoyed the Challenge

“The Moon” depicts the struggle between astronaut Sun Woo (played by Do Kyung Soo) stranded alone on the moon due to an accident and Jae Guk (Sul Kyung Gu), the former head of the space center, who desperately tries to rescue him.

The film, with a production budget of approximately 30 billion won, allowed Do Kyung Soo to showcase his talent in the role of a South Korean astronaut isolated on the moon.

Do Kyung Soo expressed that he felt the pressure as it was a big film but also revealed he received a lot of help from director Kim Yong Hwa. He made efforts not to let down the staff and embraced the meaning of challenging himself in a new genre and a new film.

When he first read the script, Do Kyung Soo pondered on how to portray the character. However, as he discussed with the director and understood the character better, his anxiety gradually disappeared. Despite facing more difficulties than imagined, he enjoyed the experience of wearing a spacesuit and found it fun.

After working together in ‘Along with the Gods,’ Do Kyung Soo shared how happy he was to collaborate with director Kim Yong Hwa again. He felt closer to the director during “The Moon” filming compared to the previous project.

Do Kyung Soo also praised the director’s ability to understand the actors’ thoughts and desires without even saying a word. The director’s keen directing skills impressed him, and he expressed his gratitude for working with someone who could grasp what actors wanted without detailed explanations.
