Disney’s 2023~2024 lineup… The Little Mermaid, Mufasa: The Lion King and more

In the midst of this, the 2023~2024 lineup of Disney, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2023, has been unveiled, drawing attention from movie fans.

1. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania / February 2023″

The third film “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” in the Marvel hero movie series “Ant-Man” will be released on February 17th, 2023 (North America’s standard).

In “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”, Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne, along with Hope’s parents Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne and Lang’s daughter Cassie, go on a new adventure exploring the Quantum Realm that pushes their limits and pits them against Kang the Conqueror.


Expectations are high as it is the first sequel in 5 years as well as the start of Marvel Cinematic Phase 5.

2. Guardians of the Galaxy VOL.3 / May 2023

The movie “Guardians of the Galaxy VOL.3” is set to be released on May 5th, 2023.

Rocket’s past and Gamora’s reappearance are raising fans’ curiosity.


In addition, High Evolutionary, a geneticist who created strange creatures through genetic experiments, and Adam Warlock, who is called the most perfect human being, will appear as key characters.

3. The Little Mermaid / May 2023

Disney’s live-action film “The Little Mermaid”, which has been at the center of controversy since the casting was released, is scheduled to be released on May 26th, 2023 (North America’s standard).

In particular, Halle Bailey, who plays Ariel, is a top singer who is gaining popularity around the world, so fans are raising expectations for the OST she sings.

4. Secret Invasion / Spring 2023

The six-episode superhero drama “Secret Invasion”, which is scheduled to air on Disney+ in the spring of 2023, will feature S.H.I.E.L.D.’s director Nick Fury and Talos as the main characters.

It tells the story of the Skrulls, a faction of shapeshifting aliens, transforming into Earth’s heroes to invade Earth and secretly infiltrating Earth.


According to what was revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con held last July, it is a spy thriller as dark and serious as the 2014 film “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”.

5. Peter Pan & Wendy / Spring 2023

“Peter Pan & Wendy”, a live-action remake of the 1953 animation “Peter Pan”, is scheduled to be released through Disney+ in the spring of 2023.


Ever Anderson, the daughter of world-renowned action star Milla Jovovich, plays Wendy Darling. Handsome star Jude Law takes on the role of Captain Hook.

The role of Peter Pan is played by actor Alexander Molony.

6. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny / June 2023

The fifth film in the “Indiana Jones” series, “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” will be released on June 30, 2023 in North America.


For the first sequel in 15 years since 2008’s “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”, 80-year-old Harrison Ford will be returning as Indiana Jones.

Previously, the “Indiana Jones” franchise has been directed by Steven Spielberg, but “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” will be directed by James Mangold, who was behind the success of “The Wolverine”, “Logan”, and “Identity”.

“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” takes place in 1969, at the height of the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union.

7. Elemental / June 2023

Disney and Pixar’s animation “Elemental” is set in a city of spirits where the elements of fire, water, earth and air live together. Here, a fiery girl and a carefree man realize the fundamental fact that the two of them resemble each other. 


Korean-American director Peter Sohn, who directed the 2015 animated film “The Good Dinosaur”, became a hot topic as he was confirmed to direct the film.

“Elemental” is scheduled for release on June 16th, 2023 in North America.

8. Wish / November 2023

The animated movie “Wish”, which will be released on November 22nd, 2023 in North America, is a work produced to commemorate Disney’s 100th anniversary.


Although the detailed plot has not been revealed yet, characters such as Asha and Valentino have been revealed, and the plot is based on asking the question, “How did the wishing star, upon which so many Disney characters wished, come to be?”

Director Chris Buck, who made the animated movies “Tarzan” and “Frozen”, and Thai female director Fawn Veerasunthorn, will be working together on this project. 

9. Snow White / March 2024

“Snow White” is a live-action film of the Disney animation “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” and is set to be released on March 22nd, 2024 in North America.


Upon its casting and plot announcement, controversies arose because the film will feature a Latina actress for the role of Snow White, and will not introduce dwarf characters like in previous adaptations. 

However, expectations are rising because Rachel Ziegler, who will assume the role of Snow White, boasts excellent vocals in various musical films in the past, just like her Halle Bailey, who also faced mixed reactions for her appearance in “The Little Mermaid”.

10. Inside Out 2 / June 2024

A sequel to the animated movie “Inside Out”, which was released in 2015, is also scheduled to be released.


In particular, 9 years after the first movie, “Inside Out 2” is scheduled to hit the cinemas in June 2024, getting fans from all around the world excited. 

“Inside Out 2” will reportedly cover the events when Riley becomes a teenager and develops new emotions. 

11. Mufasa: The Lion King / July 2024

“Mufasa: The Lion King” is a prequel to the live-action film “The Lion King”, which is based on the Disney animation “The Lion King”. The movie is directed by Barry Jenkins, who was behind the production of “Moonlight”.


In this movie, Rafiki, Timon, and Pumbaa tell the story of Mufasa to a young lion cub.

On the other hand, “Mufasa: The Lion King”  is scheduled to be released on July 5th, 2024 in North America.
