Disney+ “Vigilante” Led by Nam Joo Hyuk Officially Invited to Busan International Film Festival

Nam Joo Hyuk’s upcoming drama “Vigilante” is set to premiere at the Busan International Film Festival

Disney+’s original series “Vigilante” has been officially invited to the 28th Busan International Film Festival’s On Screen section, which will take place on October 4th, ahead of its release in the second half of the year.

Established in 2021, the Busan International Film Festival’s ‘On Screen’ section is the first official OTT section in Asia, showcasing the latest series as premieres.

With “Vigilante” being selected for the ‘On Screen’ section, it is gaining high attention not only in Korea but also from media and fans around the world.

“Vigilante” tells the story of Kim Ji Yong (Nam Joo Hyuk), a model police academy student who upholds the law during the day but becomes a vigilante, who judges criminals who evade the law at night. It is an action thriller where various individuals with different motives fiercely confront each other around the vigilante.

With a unique title meaning individuals arming themselves for their own safety, “Vigilante” has attracted curiosity from the start, as it is based on the popular Naver webtoon by Kim Kyu Sam, which has accumulated over 370 million views globally.

Director Choi Jung Yeol, known for his delicate and lively direction in dramas like “The Light in Your Eyes” and “Start-Up,” takes charge of directing “Vigilante.”

Nam Joo Hyuk, who has consistently showcased captivating performances in various roles in hit works, takes on the role of Kim Ji Yong, promising a powerful transformation in his acting.

He will be showing a contrasting appearance of a perfect model police academy student by day and a dark hero “vigilante” who judges criminals by night in his own style.

Alongside Nam Joo Hyuk, Yoo Ji Tae will portray the investigative team leader Cho Heon, displaying his overwhelming charisma.

Lee Joon Hyuk portrays the vigilante’s assistant, Cho Kang Ok, in his own unique way, promising to show a new side that hasn’t been seen before. Kim So Jin will take on the role of broadcast journalist Choi Mi Rye, introducing an added tension to the drama.

“Vigilante,” created through the synergy of talented actors with intense acting, heralds the birth of a well-made series and is gaining attention as one of the most talked-about K-dramas of the year.

As it has been selected as an official invitation to the Busan International Film Festival, “Vigilante” is gathering expectations and is set to be exclusively released worldwide on Disney+ in the second half of 2023.
