Director Hwang Dong Hyuk of “Squid Game” unveiled his progress for season 2 of the hit K-drama “Squid Game”.
Recently on May 18th (local time), Hwang Dong Hyuk had an interview with the American news site Vanity Fair, where he gave spoilers for “Squid Game” season 2.
According to the director, “Squid Game 2” is scheduled to be released at the end of 2023 at the earliest, or later in 2024. He also shared that he “only have about three pages of ideas”, at the same time raised expectations by saying “there will be more games”.
“Squid Game 2 will focus on the police, and will be a socio-political commentary. You can expect a rich story”, the director said.
Hwang Dong Hyuk also mentioned the casting of actors for the next season, and foreshadowed the appearance of Lee Jung Jae – who played the male lead of season 1, and Lee Byung Hun – who played a past winner.
He also stressed that the main theme of “Squid Game 2” will be human solidarity, saying: “The only way for humans to get through a crisis is via solidarity”.
