Netizens previously spotted uncanny similarities between NewJeans’ “Ditto” MV and the TV program “Infinity Challenge”
On December 20th, an article titled “I was wondering where I saw the NewJeans new song…” was posted on the Korean platform theqoo and quickly draws attention.
In the article, several similarities between NewJeans’ new MV “Ditto” and the TV program “Infinity Challenge” were pointed out. In particular, the two boast similar color palettes and have one character that was filming everything, alongside other similar scenes.
However, most netizens found the situation hilarious and expressed that they feel nostalgic over the comparison, many raised questions about plagiarism. In response to these concerns, Shin Woo Seok, the director of NewJeans’ “Ditto” MV and CEO of DOLPHINERS FILM, has given his official position on Instagram.
In particular, he said, “I heard that there is a controversy about NewJeans’ ‘Ditto’ MV, which I worked on, plagiarizing ‘Infinity Challenge’. However, it is not plagiarism. If there is a scene that you think is similar, I would appreciate it if you could understand that they share the same genre.”
