In September of the same year, he also mentioned Season 2 at the commemorative meeting for “Squid Game”’s win at the 74th Primetime Emmy Award held at the Grand Ballroom of Westin Josun Hotel in Sogong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul. The director said, “My next plan is to shoot ‘Squid Game’ Season 2. I think the drama will come out next year or within three years from now. We are still reviewing that. I think it will take about two years before its release. I’m currently writing the script.”

Regarding actresses Lee Yoo Mi and Jung Ho Yeon whose characters died in Season 1, director Hwang said, “I killed their characters too easily without knowing that they would be so well-loved. I’m sorry. I’m thinking of reviving them.”
