A K-drama actress who got caught twice for drunk-driving, is condemned for her next project

Netizens are finding the next role of this actress ironic, seeing that she’s playing a taxi driver after causing a traffic accident with her drunk-driving. 

On February 19th, Star News reported that actress Park Si Yeon is scheduled to appear in the movie “Abyss”, which is directed by Yeo Chang Yoon. 

In this movie, Park Si Yeon will assume the role of Han In Sook, a mysterious taxi driver, who forms a relationship with the male lead and his wife. This will be the actress’ first acting activity after her special appearance in the tvN drama “Birth Care Center”. 

However, Park Si Yeon’s return is facing intense criticism from netizens, who pointed out the irony that an actress who was caught drunk-driving twice would play a taxi driver. 

In particular, Park Si Yeon had a drunk driving record back in 2006. Then, the actress faced the same charges in 2021, when she collided with a waiting car while driving, leaving the driver and two passengers injured for 2 weeks. It was known that at the time of the accident, which was at 11:30 AM, Park Si Yeon’s blood alcohol level was 0.097%, which is the level of license revocation, and she had to pay a fine of over 10,000 USD. 

The image of Park Si Yeon ended up being completely ruined, and her return with a taxi driver role only served to further enrage netizens. 

These people also brought up Park Si Yeon’s past scandals, particularly when the actress tested positive for propofol in 2013. Propofol is considered a psychoactive drug and illegal for non-medical use in Korea. It is also the drug that got actor Yoo Ah In in trouble recently.

Born in 1979, Park Si Yeon expressed her talent and beauty early on. She participated in the beauty pageant competition “Miss Korea” and won 1st Runner-up. She then made her acting debut at the age of 25, and has starred in various notable projects, including “Lotus Latern”, “My Girl”, “When My Love Blooms”, “Coffee House”, and “The Innocent Man”, which featured Song Joong Ki. 

On the other hand, “Abyss”, Park Si Yeon’s next project, follows the journey of male lead Lee Tae Sik in finding his wife, who disappeared on their 1-year marriage anniversary. As of the moment, there has been no definite filming and release schedule.
