“Descendants of the Sun” actor Jin Goo, “I met my wife thanks to Gummy. I felt like I would marry her on our first date”
Actor Jin Goo talked about his unexpected tall height and the love story with his wife in “My Little Old Boy”.
Jin Goo guested on the July 9th broadcast of SBS’s entertainment program “My Little Old Boy”.
Jin Goo appeared in the popular drama “Descendants of the Sun” as Sergeant Seo Dae Young and acted alongside Song Joong Ki. Jin Goo, who earned the nickname “Nation’s Manly Guy” after that drama, shared the anecdote of when he endured the pain because of his image, saying “One day, a nurse at the hospital made my blood vessel burst because she trembled so much. It swelled up and I couldn’t move but I just said, ‘It’s okay’”.
Moreover, the actor referred to singer Gummy as the person who connected him and his wife. Jin Goo said, “I met Gummy after a long time, and she brought a friend along. That friend showed me pictures of a woman. That’s how I ended up being forced into a blind date”, adding, “It was my first blind date ever, and that person is now my wife”, sharing his fateful love story.
Regarding their first meeting, Jin Goo said “On our first date, I wanted to look cool so I took her to a pojangmacha (street food stall)”, adding “I wanted to look nice, so I prepared many snacks. However, she told me that she didn’t eat after 8 p.m., so after waiting for a while, I hailed a taxi and sent her off, and I sat there alone feeling strange.” Recalling his feelings at that time, the actor said, “I felt like I would meet her again and marry her”.
Jin Goo then explained the meaning behind his name. He said, “It’s my real name. ‘Jin’ is my last name, and ‘Goo’ is my given name”. Revealing the struggles he faced with his name, the actor said, “When you search my name on portal sites, various results like Yeo Jin Goo, Busanjin-gu, Gwangjin-gu, and Doraemon Jingoo”, drawing laughter.
Later, Seo Jang Hoon verified his actual height due to the suspicions of him being 3m tall. Jin Goo, who was standing next to him, also had his height measured and he was found to be around 179 to 180cm tall. He even took off his shoes and confidently showcased his height. Everyone exclaimed, “You are much taller than we thought”. Shin Dong Yup measured Jin Goo’s height himself and confirmed, “It’s correct. He’s 180cm tall”.
