On February 10, a video titled “Gong Hyo-jin Met DAWN” was released on the YouTube channel For Now. In the video, DAWN and actress Gong Hyo-jin sat down for an honest conversation about daily life and personal values.
During the discussion, DAWN reflected on how his relationship with fashion has changed over time. “Lately, I’ve let go of fashion a bit,” he admitted. “When I was really into fashion, I leaned heavily toward flashy styles. I kept looking for clothes that no one else would wear and that others absolutely couldn’t copy.”
However, he revealed that a turning point came when he began questioning his authenticity. “At some point, I realized I’m not actually that kind of person, but I felt like I was pretending to be,” he said. “So I thought, ‘Let’s look inside myself,’ and naturally I stopped buying clothes.”

DAWN shared that the energy he once poured into fashion is now directed toward hobbies and everyday life. “These days, I spend more time at home or focusing on hobbies,” he explained. “Now I just wear one outfit. I’ve even worn the same one or two sets of clothes for two years. It’s much more comfortable.” Looking back on his past style, he added with a laugh, “I really wore everything imaginable. I wore skirts and even made thigh-high boots to wear.”
Listening to his reflections, Gong Hyo-jin offered heartfelt advice from her experience as a senior in the industry. “There’s a time when you’re full of that kind of energy, and it passes,” she said. “When you work in this field, sometimes everything feels exhausting, and you start wondering, ‘Why won’t people just leave me alone?’”

She continued, “There are moments when you want to do things your own way but hold back because of what others might think. And like you said, sometimes you become absorbed in being unique or emphasizing your own color.” Gong added encouragingly, “Even if it becomes a ‘cringe’ phase later, it’s all part of your history. I tell younger actresses to just express themselves freely. In the end, everyone refines their own color. I think having your own distinct color is the best thing.”
DAWN debuted in 2016 as a member of a boy group before transitioning into a solo artist. In 2018, he went public with his relationship with singer HyunA, which led to his departure from the group. The couple announced their breakup in December 2022. HyunA later married singer Yong Jun-hyung in 2024.
