Dave Bautista announces MCU departure after “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and calls his role a “silly performance”

Dave Bautista, who is much loved for his role as Drax in “Guardians of the Galaxy”, announced his departure from the MCU.

Dave Bautista, who plays Drax in the film series “Guardians of the Galaxy”, expressed his candid feelings when announcing his departure from Marvel.

On January 4th (local time), GQ magazine reported that Dave Bautista will no longer be playing Drax after the third installment of the movie “Guardians of the Galaxy”, which will be released in May.

In the interview that day, Dave confessed, “I want to get out of Drax’s role now.”

Dave said honestly, “I’m so grateful for Drax. I love him. But there’s a relief that it ends. It wasn’t all pleasant. It was hard playing that role. I was exhausted from the process of getting makeup done to transform into the character.”

“I’m grateful for playing a character in a popular Marvel movie, but I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy. It’s a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff,” Dave continued.

Dave also expressed his displeasure with Marvel Studios.

“I personally wanted Marvel to invest more in Drax,” he said. “Drax has a lot of interesting back stories, but the slate was in the hands of the producers. It’s a pity that I couldn’t show the other side of Drax.”

Dave Bautista, who has decided to drop the role of Drax, will leave the MCU after “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3: is released in May.
