In the midst of this, heartbreaking news of characters who may unfortunately lose their life in MCU phase 5 were announced.

On December 27th (local time), ScreenRant, an American entertainment media outlet, picked 7 characters who are likely to die in Phase 5 of the MCU.

Drax

Director James Gunn said that “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, which is scheduled to be released in May 2023, will decorate the finale of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” series, and one of the main characters may lose his life.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

Currently, Drax is considered the most likely candidate, as he appeared badly injured in the trailer for the film. In addition, Dave Bautista, who played Drax, previously announced that he would retire from the character after the third film.

Rocket

Rocket, the cute raccoon from the “Guardians of the Galaxy” series, is also a strong candidate.

In particular, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” tells the story of Rocket’s past, and fans are speculating that the movie could be a farewell for Rocket.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

Although a background reveal doesn’t necessarily point to a tragic ending, the trailer and director James Gunn’s words about how Rocket’s story needs to be finished could be a big clue about this character’s demise.

Hank Pym

Dr. Hank Pym was an integral character in the “Ant-Man” franchise.

In the past, Marvel has killed off important characters in the past to increase emotional tension, such as Odin in “Thor: Ragnarok” and May Parker in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

Marvel Cinematic Universe

Therefore, the death of Hank, one of the most important characters in “Ant-Man”, will heighten the emotional tension of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”.

Janet Van Dyne

Like Hank Pym, Janet Van Dynet, plays a pivotal role in the franchise. She went missing in the past after entering the Quantum Realm and returned in “Ant-Man and the Wasp”.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

The movie “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania” also deals with her time in the quantum realm. By killing her, her story will be able to come to an end.

Many people speculate that her death may have something to do with the new phase’s villain, Kang the Conqueror, who she apparently had a past with.

Ghost

Ghost, who first appeared in the movie “Ant-Man and the Wasp”, may face her demise in “Thunderbolts”

Phase 5’s “Thunderbolts” tells the story of a new superpower team, the Thunderbolts, which is similar to DC Universe’s “Suicide Squad”.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

The Thunderbolts, too, are dark or morally ambiguous people who band together for a common purpose. This essentially means that its characters can die.

Among them, the most likely candidate is Ghost. Ghost, who killed many people when she was a secret agent for S.H.I.E.L.D.

Red Guardian

Red Guardian, who appeared in “Black Widow”, is also a member of the Thunderbolts.

As such, he’s another strong candidate to be killed in the Phase 5 film.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

In “Black Widow”, Red Guardian attempted to reconcile with his adoptive daughters Natasha and Yelena after wronging them badly. He is now a member of the Thunderbolts like Yelena, which means that the film will deal with their complex family bond.

In the end, one might end up dead to provide a strong emotional tension.

Talos

Talos, a general of Skrull who first appeared in “Captain Marvel”, will lead the drama “Secret Invasion” with Nick Fury.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

He played a big and memorable role in “Captain Marvel” and became a well-known character in the MCU with another appearance in “Spider-Man: Far From Home”.

This means that he could soon be a candidate to face his end in “Secret Invasion”.

Talos’ death, should it happen, will have a big impact on Phase 5 of the MCU.
