EXO’s Chen has completed his military service and returned to his fans.
In October 2020, Chen entered the army training center and completed basic military training, before serving as an active-duty soldier in the 56th Infantry Division. Chen applying to be an active-duty soldier seems to be due to the fact that he has children to raise.
Before joining the army, Chen announced his marriage and girlfriend’s pregnancy in January 2020. Chen later tied the knot with his pregnant girlfriend in April of the same year and became the first married member in EXO. The news of Chen, a famous active idol, getting married and becoming a father, once took everyone by surprise.
In November 2021, during Chen’s military duty, his wife was confirmed to be pregnant with their second child, making Chen a father of two at the age of 30.
Since his debut as an EXO member in 2012, Chen has proved himself to be one of the top-tier main vocalists of K-pop 3rd generation with his powerful singing skills. Therefore, attention is now focused on what kind of activities Chen will be showing after his military discharge.
Chen is the fourth EXO member to be discharged from the military after Xiumin, D.O. and Suho. Meanwhile, Baekhyun and Chanyeol, members of the same age as Chen, are still serving in the army.
