“Curtain Call” hit rating record upon premiere and was received positive feedback from the audiences 

 The drama marks the comeback of famous stars, Ha Ji Won and Kang Ha Neul. 

On October 31st, “Curtain Call”, a new drama series starring Ha Ji Won and Kang Ha Neul officially aired. The female lead role was originally for Son Ye Jin but the actress refused which led to it going to Ha Ji Won. Upon the airing of the first episode, “Curtain Call” hit a record 7.2% rating despite being shown early on the weekday. This impressive rating secured for the series a second place in the rating rankings of Monday-night programs by national broadcasts.

Along with the record-high viewership were the positive reviews of the show. The series was highly regarded for the plot and amazing performances of the main cast, despite only one episode being aired.

The viewers’ comments were: 

  • I really like the first episode – the story has many hidden details and great acting that made me excited to know what comes next. 
  • The execution was a bit messy in the first episode but worth looking forward to. The main cast is flawless.
  • The first episode was wonderful. More importantly, it gathered top stars in Korea. The plot is captivating and worth watching. 
  • The first episode gave me goosebumps for the cast’s acting. They were wonderful. Hopefully the script can be improved so as not to waste such potential. 

“Curtain Call” is a drama telling the story of Ja Geum Soon, a woman born in 1930 in North Korea. Due to problems from her past, she is currently living inSouth Korea and has lost contact with her husband and children. She is running a hotel chain but all the wealth cannot give her happiness because she longs for her family. Her death wish is to meet her grandson who she has not met before: Im Moon Sung. Her loyal assistant, Jung Sang Cheol, devises a plan to hire an actor to play Im Moon Sung. Yoo Jae Heon (Kang Ha Neul) is chosen for the role. Everything would be perfect if Yoo Jae Heon’s real identity was not suspected by Park Se Yeon (Ha Ji Won).
