“Crazy Rich Asian” actress exposed how she was sexually harassed: “I don’t have parents in the indsutry”

American actress Constance Wu confessed that she was sexually harassed while filming the TV series “Fresh Off the Boat.”

On Sep 23rd (local time), Constance Wu reported in an interview with the New York Times that she was sexually harassed by a senior producer during the filming of “Fresh Off the Boat,” which aired from 2015 to 2020.

According to the report, she exposed that a producer, whose initials she mentioned in her upcoming memoir “Making a Scene,” controlled her.

“Fresh Off the Boat’ was my first-ever TV show,” Wu said. “I was thrown into this world. I don’t have parents in the industry. And because I was 30, people thought I knew what I was doing. It made me paranoid and embarrassed”.

She revealed that at an event in 2015, this producer touched her thigh and grazed her crotch. She also said that something similar happened when she attended the film festival after season 2 of “Fresh Off The Boat” was released. Wu added that she had been silent about such sexual harassment in fear of the consequences she might receive.

In another interview, she confessed, “A few people knew [the harassment] was happening, and to go to work every day and see those people who knew that he was sexually harassing me, being ‘buddy-buddy’ with him, it felt like a betrayal every time.”

Meanwhile, Constance Wu, who was born in 1982, is a 40-year-old Chinese-American actress who is widely known for her role in the movie “Crazy Rich Asian.”
