When asked the reason behind such a mindset, Hyoyeon recalled malicious comments that she has faced for the past 15 years, saying: “I started thinking like that after I got into the entertainment industry. In the past, I never cared about those comments and always kept a positive mindset. But those people know nothing about me, and yet they spread rumors and wrote harsh comments and mocked my appearance. They never think about other people’s feelings while writing them, and I get frustrated whenever I read their words.”

The female idol then added: “They should come say it to my face. Had I not been so busy with my schedules, I’d have come to meet them and tell them to say those things to my face.”

Finally, Hyoyeon was asked if she had ever replied to such comments, to which she denied: “It’s not worth my time doing such things. However, thinking about how we were born knowing nothing about the world and having to start learning about everything, I believe that human nature is to be evil.”
