Nam Tae Hyun’s drunk-driving case clarified? Not intentional, was waiting for driver?
The agency of singer Nam Tae Hyun, who was charged with drunk driving, belatedly issued an official position.
On March 10th, the agency Noname Music said, “We apologize for the delay in expressing our official position to confirm the facts. We sincerely apologize for causing concern due to Nam Tae Hyun’s fault.”
They explained, “After having a meeting with his acquaintances in Gangnam at around 3:30 AM on March 8th, Nam Tae Hyun tried to move his car about 5m to re-park it because it was blocking his acquaintances’ cars, then waited for the designated driver. During this process, while Nam Tae Hyun was opening the door of his parked car, an accident occurred when Nam Tae Hyun’s car collided with the side mirror of a taxi passing by.”
They continued, “Nam Tae Hyun promised the taxi driver sufficient compensation for the damage immediately after the collision. Contrary to some media reports, Nam Tae Hyun did not drive tens of meters after the collision with the taxi, but moved about 5m forward to re-park. Even though he was drunk, there is no excuse for making a momentary rash judgment.”
They added, “Nam Tae Hyun is deeply reflecting on his mistakes. He will faithfully participate in the police investigation and receive punishment for his wrongdoing. We deeply apologize to everyone.”
According to the Seoul Gangnam Police Station earlier, on March 8th, Nam Tae Hyun drank until dawn and broke the right side mirror of a taxi passing by while opening his vehicle door on a road. As a result of the on-site blood alcohol level test, Nam Tae Hyun’s blood alcohol level was 0.114%, which is at the level of license revocation. At that time, the agency said, “We have not heard anything about Nam Tae Hyun’s drunk driving incident. It’s something we have no idea about and have to check with him first. After confirmation with our artist, we will issue an official statement.”
On March 9th, MBN released CCTV footage of Nam Tae Hyun’s drunk driving incident. In the released video, Nam Tae Hyun’s vehicle stopped after moving about 5m, and the police were dispatched about 20 minutes later.
Former WINNER member Nam Tae Hyun left the group 2 years after his debut and formed a group called “South Club”.
