Libby Adame, the unlicensed practitioner responsible for the death of actress Cindyana Santangelo (58), has been convicted of second-degree murder following an illegal cosmetic procedure. On November 5 (local time), a Los Angeles County competent court sentenced Adame to 15 years to life after finding her guilty of second-degree murder and practicing medicine without a license.

According to prosecutors, Adame injected silicone into Santangelo’s buttocks at her Malibu home while attempting to “smooth out lumps” the actress developed after hormone treatment. Shortly after the injection, Santangelo experienced severe breathing difficulties and bleeding at the injection site. On March 24, she passed away from an embolism caused by silicone entering her bloodstream and blocking major vessels.

Court documents stated that “unlicensed individual Libby Adame illegally injected a dangerous, unapproved substance into the victim at her residence, resulting in her death,” adding that the tragedy “was entirely preventable.”
Adame’s defense argued that she never administered the injection herself and claimed she only consulted with doctors in Mexico who legally performed similar procedures. However, the court rejected the argument. Judges highlighted that Adame had previously been convicted of involuntary manslaughter in a similar 2019 case and was on probation at the time, proving she was fully aware of the risks.

The victim, Cindyana Santangelo, gained public recognition through her appearances in CSI: Miami, ER, and Married… with Children. She also featured in rapper Young MC’s 1989 music video “Bust a Move” and the 1990 film The Adventures of Ford Fairlane. Fans have expressed deep sorrow upon learning of her tragic and preventable death.
