Chris Patt likes BLACKPINK and NewJeans, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” cast show love for Korean culture

Hollywood actor Chris Pratt, who stars in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, expressed his love for Korean culture.

On April 18th, a press conference for the movie  “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” (directed by James Gunn) was held at Conrad Seoul Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul.

Scheduled for release on May 3rd in Korea, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” is a story about Peter Quill, who was in sorrow after losing his lover, Gamora, gathering the strength of the Guardians team once again to protect the galaxy and his colleagues from crisis, and embarking on a mission that might be their last if they fail.

At the press conference, “Team Guardians” smiled and said, “We are so happy to be in Korea”. Director James Gunn then continued, “For the past 10 years or even more, I think Korean movies have been the best in cinema. They were the best in the world,” adding that he really enjoys movies like “Parasite” and “Mother”. 

At the same time, the director also revealed that he got a lot of inspiration from various action movies, saying, “It’s great to be here and meet all of you and share with you. I was inspired while making this movie. I love it.”

Meanwhile, Chris Pratt, who assumes the role of Peter Quill, expressed his love for Korean culture. 

“Korea is a leader not only in movies but also in music. BLACKPINK recently performed at Coachella, and I like NewJeans too. I think Korea is a country that is good at pop music. Korea might be the center of various cultures. It’s been culturally good for a long time, but now it’s recognized worldwide, which is great”, the actor shared.

Karen Gillan, who plays Nebula, added, “I also like ‘Mother’. It’s an amazing movie. I wanted to make a movie like that. I prepared for this press conference this morning while listening to BLACKPINK and BTS songs. Since I’m in Korea, I want to meet them.”

Lastly, Pom Klementieff, whose mother is Korean, said, “I watched ‘Oldboy’ when it came out, and it was really good. Thanks to that, I wanted to make a movie. I really like Director Bong Joon Ho. Of course, I love Korean food. I especially like small stir-fried anchovies.”
