Choo Sung-hoon Shocked Everyone With Unexpected Awards Acceptance Speech, “I Will Soon Go To My Dad In Heaven”

With broadcasters Shin Dong-yeop, Joo Woo-jae and actor Joo Yi-hyun hosting, the 2023 KBS Entertainment Awards was held at 9:25 p.m. on December 23rd at the KBS New Hall in Yeouido, Seoul.

The Best Icon Award went to Choo Sung-hoon of “Boss in the Mirror” and “Lee Mujin Service” host Lee Mu-jin.

“Personally, there is someone I want to give this award to. It’s my father, who passed away suddenly in April,” Choo said in his acceptance speech. “When my family had a hard time, my father said to me, ‘Sung-hoon, if you work hard, people around you will definitely help you succeed.’ Seeing this scenery standing here makes me feel like my father is right.”

He then said, “I want to stand next to him as much as possible and say, ‘Father you are right’ and ‘Father you are so cool’, but I’m sorry that I couldn’t, but I’ll continue to work hard.”

At the same time, he embarrassed the audience with unexpected remarks. “My father left first, but what I want to say to him is… I will be there for him soon. Please wait for me,” Choo said. When the scene was chaotic at the time, Choo said in a hurry, “But now I still have a lot to do. I will do my best… Thank you!”
