“Our Beloved Summer” Choi Woo-sik, Kim Da-mi, Kim Sung-chul and Noh Jung-eui are waking up viewers’ love cells.
SBS’s “Our Beloved Summer” (directed by Kim Yoon-jin and Lee Dan, written by Lee Na-eun, produced by Studio N and Super Moon Pictures) is receiving love for its growing excitement and empathy. Choi Woong (Choi Woo-sik) and Kook Yeon-soo (Kim Da-mi), who had a passionate kiss in the rain, faced unexpected changes. The unpredictable romance of young people resembling early summer’s volatile weather is unfolding.
The reaction was also hot. Episode 10, which aired on Jan 4th, showed off the work’s potential as it occupied the top spot among Monday-Tuesday dramas for 3 consecutive weeks in the 2049 target audience rating (based on Nielsen Korea). In addition, it topped the TV drama hot topic chart (based on Good Data Corporation) for 2 consecutive weeks. In the cast hot topic chart, Kim Da-mi ranked third and Choi Woo-sik ranked fourth side by side.
As the writer said, “I tried to capture the young people who struggle not to lose love even in the midst of painful reality and uncertain future”, she is writing another youth growth romance that contains the love and friendship of young people and the reality they face. At the center of it, the detailed directing of rookie director Kim Yoon-jin, the sensuous script of writer Lee Na-eun, as well as the performance of actors such as Choi Woo-sik, Kim Da-mi, Kim Sung-chul and Noh Jung-eui, cannot be left out. They showed a pleasant and exciting chemistry that did not go against expectations.
In the meantime, the released photos showed the back of the filming site which was heated up with director Kim Yoon-jin and the cast’s passion. Choi Woo-sik, who was having a conversation with the director before filming, had a serious expression on his face. After the kiss, Choi Woong told Kook Yeon-soo a decisive line, “Let’s be friends.” Choi Woo-sik drew favorable reviews by convincingly portraying the character’s emotional line in this scene. Kim Da-mi showed Kook Yeon-soo’s change with restrained expressions and delicate depictions. The gaze of Kook Yeon-soo, who was confused by both the familiar and unfamiliar feelings towards Choi Woong, drew admiration. Kim Da-mi, who took off her strong image in previous works and played a realistic character that everyone would relate to, fully embodied Kook Yeon-soo with her perfect digestibility.
The production team of “Our Beloved Summer” said, “The actors’ true value will shine even more with the upheaval of the youth who are starting to realize their hidden emotions because they are clumsy and awkward or they lack courage. Please pay attention to the subtle changes in their emotional lines and relationships.”
Meanwhile, episode 11 of SBS’s “Our Beloved Summer” will air at 10 PM on Jan 10th (Monday).
