Choi Sung Bong’s funeral to be held by manager as no family member claims his body even after 20 days
The current situation of the body of singer Choi Sung Bong, who was found dead last month, causes regret.
20 days have passed since singer Choi Sung Bong died, but no family members have appeared to hold the funeral and his body is still being kept in the freezer of a hospital’s funeral hall. Therefore, someone else will take over Choi Sung Bong’s body and hold a funeral.
According to News 1 report on July 13th, Choi Sung Bong’s funeral will take place belatedly.
An official from Seoul Gangnam Police Office said, “We would like to inform you that we have designated A, an acquaintance of the late singer Choi Sung Bong, as the person in charge of organizing the funeral. We will receive reports on how the funeral was held within 30 days after it takes place”.
As there were no family members who came forward to claim the body, the deceased was classified as an unattended death and has been kept in the hospital funeral hall.
On the same day, Star News also provided detailed reports on A, who will hold Choi Sung Bong’s funeral.
The media said, “The Gangnam Police Office designated A, who used to work as Choi Sung Bong’s manager, as the funeral organizer. A, who had a close personal connection with the late Choi Sung Bong, decided to pay the funeral expenses themselves.”
A told Star News, “I will set up the funeral hall this Saturday (July 15th). The location has yet to be decided”. A plans to receive condolences as soon as they complete the funeral preparation. The funeral will be held for two days and the coffin will be borne out on the 16th.
A said, “He was a lonely person, and I feel uneasy about just letting him go. He made lots of mistakes and the public doesn’t like him, but I believe that those who want to come and pay tribute will come.”
According to reports, Choi Sung Bong was found dead at his residence in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, by the police and fire authorities at around 9:41 a.m. on June 20th. The police concluded that the late singer made an extreme choice as he posted a message on his YouTube channel implying his decision.
