Gong Hyo-jin’s Mother Has Led Volunteer Group ‘Love Food Truck’ For 20 Years, Daughter Also Participates

Episode 1107 of MBC’s “Happy Dream Lotto 6/45”, which aired on the evening of February 17th, featured Chairman of the non-profit volunteer group ‘Love Food Truck’ Kim Ok-ran.

In fact, Kim Ok-ran is the mother of actress Gong Hyo-jin. Leading Love Food Truck, she has been providing meals to the underprivileged, including elderly people living alone, disabled people and children without food, for 20 years. Kim Ok-ran and the volunteers went grocery shopping, prepared the ingredients a day before then cooked and helped people with moving difficulties eat their meals.

In particular, during the 2008 Taean oil spill incident, Love Food Truck was responsible for providing three meals a day for 1,500 residents and on-site volunteers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they delivered meal boxes to vulnerable people and people in need anywhere in Korea.

Kim Ok-ran revealed that her daughter is actress Gong Hyo-jin. When MC Seo Kyung-seok asked, “Gong Hyo-jin is very beautiful because she resembles her mother. Does your daughter join the volunteer work?”, Kim Ok-ran said, “Hyo-jin and many others are joining us. We are providing warm meals to our neighbors”, adding that her daughter has been helping her with volunteer activities since 10 years ago, which made her feel even prouder.

To Kim Ok-ran, the most memorable moment when serving food was when people gave them a candy or a tangerine to thank them after finishing the meals. Kim Ok-ran said, “I’m cooking and serving food in a moving kitchen. I had surgeries on my right shoulder three times so my family members are very worried. Still, I can’t stop cooking when I see people feel happy and enjoy the food. Since I’m running a non-profit organization, there have been many difficult times. However, I want to do my best to lead ‘Love Food Truck’ until we are united”

Ahead of her appearance on “Happy Dream Lotto 6/45”, Kim Ok-ran said, “Love Food Truck is a non-profit organization that carries out activities based on volunteers and sponsorship. I hope to attract more people’s interest and create a beautiful society in which small happiness is shared with everyone”.
