Actor and dancer Cha Hyun-seung has opened up about the ongoing challenges of his leukemia treatment, sharing an emotional update with fans about his health condition and postponed hospital discharge.
On November 16, Cha Hyun-seung posted multiple photos on his Instagram, captioned: “I even took an MZ shot here at the hospital.”
The images show Cha documenting his daily life in the hospital. He is receiving chemotherapy, which he described as the most challenging treatment yet, but expressed determination to persevere: “This chemo is the hardest, but I’ll endure.”
In the photos, he can be seen receiving a large intravenous drip, reportedly nine times the size of a regular IV. A sign in front of him warns patients not to sit or stand, highlighting the intensity of his treatment.
Previously, on October 25, Cha Hyun-seung uploaded a new video titled “Escaping the Hospital” to his personal YouTube channel, where he candidly shared both his hopes and frustrations.
“The bone marrow test was so painful,” he said. “The doctor told me that my numbers might recover in about a week, but because my condition tends to fluctuate, they wanted to observe me for a few more days. So… my discharge was postponed again. It’s disappointing.”
Cha Hyun-seung revealed that despite trying to stay positive and do light exercise to boost his immunity, his recent blood test results weren’t encouraging.
“My immune cell count dropped again — it’s down to 499,” he said. “That’s why the doctor didn’t approve my discharge yet.”

Even after a brief moment of relief when his neutrophil count rose to 644, allowing him to prepare to go home, Cha Hyun-seung grew concerned as his platelet levels began to fall.
“I’m not sure if that’s a good sign,” he admitted.
Later in the video, Cha Hyun-seung shared that he had to be re-admitted for additional tests. “I had both bone marrow and tissue tests done today. When your platelets drop, the capillaries burst and you get small red spots all over your body,” he explained, lying on the hospital bed. “They say you don’t need a transfusion unless platelets drop below 50,000, but mine are at 30,000 — so I’ll probably need another transfusion.”
He also described battling high fever and chills, saying, “I’ve been watching travel videos because I just want to go somewhere. The chills got so bad I couldn’t even hold my phone. After taking fever medicine, I felt a little better. Still… it’s tough.”

Cha Hyun-seung first rose to fame as Sunmi’s backup dancer, later appearing on Mnet’s Be Mbitious (2022) and Netflix’s Physical: 100 (2023). After retiring from dance, he transitioned to acting, marking a new chapter in his career.
In June 2024, he shocked fans by revealing his leukemia diagnosis, saying that his life “came to a sudden halt” after being rushed to the emergency room.
Despite his struggles, Cha Hyun-seung continues to document his journey with transparency and strength, earning widespread support from fans and fellow entertainers alike.
