On September 27, Cha Hyun Seung released a video titled “Taking a Break Due to Leukemia” on his YouTube channel, where he personally detailed his condition. “On the first day of my hospitalization, I underwent several tests and was diagnosed with leukemia. Since chemotherapy increases the risk of infertility, I stored my sperm beforehand. I’ll document how I overcome this journey. Soon, I’ll have to shave my head,” he explained calmly.
In the vlog, Cha showed his life in an isolation ward and the early stages of treatment. He revealed that a chemotherapy catheter had been inserted near his neck and chest, describing the sterile room as resembling a scene from the movie The Host. On the second day, his blood pressure spiked to 170, forcing him to use an oxygen mask. Still, he stressed, “I try to eat as much as I can.” By the fifth day, he shaved his head and beard himself, facing the changes with positivity.
Reflecting on how quickly life changed, he shared, “My health wasn’t great, so I went for tests and was suddenly told to go to a bigger hospital. I hardly drank, and I quit smoking a long time ago. I never imagined this would happen so suddenly.”
Despite the challenges, Cha remains determined: “The road ahead is long, but I’m enduring it while waiting for the day I can stand on stage and in front of the camera again. I’m deeply grateful to everyone supporting me. I’ll come back stronger and warmer.”
Previously, on the same day, Cha shared a heartfelt message on his social media, writing, “In early June, I was rushed to the emergency room, and in that moment, my life came to a halt. Until then, I had been passing final auditions for projects I dreamed of, but the diagnosis of ‘leukemia’ stopped everything.”
He admitted, “At first, it was hard even for me to accept, and I couldn’t bring myself to tell anyone. Fear and confusion filled my days. Now, with time, I feel ready to speak honestly.”
Cha explained that he is currently undergoing treatment while enduring the daily challenges of his condition. “The road ahead is long, but I will overcome this. My dreams and passion are still alive, and I am holding on, waiting for the day I can stand on stage and in front of the camera again. To everyone who has supported me, knowingly or unknowingly, I sincerely thank you. I will win this fight and return stronger and warmer.”

Cha Hyun Seung first gained attention as a dancer in Sunmi’s solo debut song 24 Hours and later went viral after performing alongside her at Waterbomb in 2018. He also appeared in Physical: 100 and Single’s Inferno. Since 2024, he has been actively pursuing his career as an actor.
