On July 22nd, a video titled “What Happens When a Fearless Woman Goes to Rural America (2)” was uploaded to Kang Min-kyung‘s YouTube channel “Kyang Mingkyung”.
In the video, Kang Min-kyung met her high school friend and the friend’s acquaintance. She shared the background of how she became friends with her high school friend. Kang Min-kyung, who was famous on the internet before her debut, transferred schools in her first year of high school. She said, “As soon as I arrived at the school, many people hung from the windows like a monkey. I wasn’t very famous at that time, but the homeroom teacher announced that a celebrity trainee was coming.”
She continued, “No matter how much I want to attract attention, it was too uncomfortable. I’m used to standing in front of many people now, but it was tough back then. I wore coffee-colored stockings, but the teacher said I had to wear black ones, so I went to the bathroom to change. But someone was hanging over the bathroom door watching me, which was shocking.”
Kang Min-kyung said she told her mother, “I can’t go to school like this.” She also mentioned, “Every break time, kids would take strange photos of me. It was the same in my second year.“
She then explained how she became friends with her classmates, “During break time, they would cover the windows with newspapers and block the front and back doors. I was so grateful. Although their reason was ‘we’re uncomfortable’, it was a huge relief for me. I melted in that environment.”
Similarly, on July 15th, P.O shared his experience of excessive attention as a celebrity on the YouTube channel “Zzanbro Shin Dong-yup”.
P.O, who was discharged from the military last September, appeared as a guest on “Zzanbro Shin Dong-yup” and shared episodes from his military life. He said, “At the training center, there were hundreds of people. We trained and took a shower and rushed to the shower room. ‘Hey, let’s see P.O’s joystick’, ‘Let’s see P.O’s banana’… They were like this. I could hear their voices.”
He continued “When I took off my clothes in the shower, I was like, ‘What should I do?’ Since they’re all boys, I went wild, taking my clothes and went in. I was like, ‘Hurry and take a look.’ We were joking around while taking a shower together. It was so chaotic and they all got hurt. They fell down the stairs“, adding more shock to his story.
P.O also mentioned “I’m a celebrity and kind of famous. Out of the young guys who were in the same platoon as me, there was one person who took care of me. When it was time to shower, he went first to save my spot“, expressing gratitude for the friend’s help at that time.
