BTS’s V is the first K-pop male idol to achieve this on Melon, putting his name next to “digital monsters” IU and Taeyeon!
BTS’s V has just gained a remarkable domestic digital achievement.
Last Christmas, BTS’s V released the solo song “Christmas Tree” and received a positive response. This is one of the OSTs for the drama Our Beloved Summer. On the afternoon of January 19, “Christmas Tree” reached a new peak on Melon TOP100 at No. 14. With this achievement, V became the 3rd Kpop idol and the first male idol in 2022 to have a solo song that entered the Top 15 on Melon, after IU and Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon.
Christmas Tree’s positive digital achievements make fans filled with pride. Although it’s only an OST that is not promoted, V’s song still makes it into the top of Melon – where Korea’s “digital monsters” compete.
Previously, “Christmas Tree” also achieved many impressive results internationally. On January 19, “Christmas Tree” debuted at No. 29 on Billboard Japan Hot 100. This is the highest ranking by a Korean male soloist since PSY. On January 5, V made history as “Christmas Tree” became the first Korean OST to debut on Billboard Hot 100, at No. 79.
On January 11, “Christmas Tree” became the OST with the highest debut stream count in the history of Korean OST, with 1,461,650 streams (filtered). This is also the fastest solo song by a Korean male artist to exceed 20 million streams in Spotify history, after only 18 days. This number broke the previous record held by Jin (Yours – 27 days) and Suga (Daechwita – 30 days).
“Christmas Tree” also set the record as the longest-lasting solo song by a Korean male solo act on Spotify Global – 14 days. As of January 19, “Christmas Tree” has recorded about 26.6 million streams on Spotify and is expected to soon reach the milestone of 30 million streams in the next few days.
