BTS’s Jungkook Crowned as Double Winner at 2023 MTV EMA

Jungkook of BTS has made headlines with remarkable achievements at the 2023 MTV EMA, Europe’s most prominent music awards show

On November 6 (KST), the official 2023 MTV EMA website announced their list of winners, where Jungkook secured victories in two significant categories, “Best Song” and “Best K-pop”.

Having previously set a new record as the Korean solo artist with the most nominations at the 2023 MTV EMA, Jungkook’s dual win at this awards show is particularly significant, marking the first time a Korean solo artist has achieved such a feat.

With his solo single “Seven” (feat. Latto), Jungkook emerged victorious against strong contenders like Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift, in the “Best Song” category, and became the first K-pop solo artist to claim this title. BTS is the only other K-pop artist to secured a win in “Best Song” in 2020 with their hit “Dynamite”.

Additionally, Jungkook also swept the “Best K-Pop” award, which is bestowed upon the best K-pop artist of the year. This category was introduced in 2019, and BTS has held the record as the artist with the most wins in this category, securing it three times until 2021.

Meanwhile, since its release in July this year, Jungkook’s “Seven” has topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart and achieved the fastest 1 billion streams on the world’s largest music streaming platform, Spotify. It also maintained the number one spot on the “Global Top Song Daily” chart for 70 consecutive days, highlighting its instance global popularity.

Recently on November 3rd, Jungkook released his solo album “GOLDEN”, and is expected to promote the new album via various global activities.
