At the 2023 MAMA held on November 28, BTS won another Daesang
On November 28, the 2023 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) held its first night in Tokyo Dome, Japan. Here, BTS was announced as the winner of the Daesang for “Worldwide Icon of the Year”, a significant award.
Previously, at the 2016 MAMA held in 2016, BTS received their first Daesang (grand prize) in the “Artist of the Year” category. The following year, they won “Artist of the Year” again, and in 2018, they achieved success in the “Artist of the Year”, “Album of the Year”, and “Worldwide Icon of the Year” categories.
Additionally, for 3 consecutive years from 2019 to 2021, BTS swept four awards, including “Artist of the Year”, “Song of the Year”, “Album of the Year”, and “Worldwide Icon of the Year”.
In 2022, BTS achieved 3 Daesangs, including “Artist of the Year”, “Album of the Year”, and “Worldwide Icon of the Year.”
This year, even with the members enlisting and focusing on solo activities, BTS secured their throne by winning “Worldwide Icon of the Year” and “Worldwide Fans’ Choice”
With this, BTS has now won a total of 22 trophies at MAMA, marking an 8-year streak
On this day, BTS member Jungkook expressed gratitude through a video message, saying, “ARMY (Fans of BTS), thank you for your unwavering love. Although we couldn’t all meet, I hope to see you soon,” adding, “We love our ARMY a lot. We will continue to show you good performances in the future.”
